what did ben and i do last weekend?

Celebrated Heirloom Apple Days with Lev & Ravit. Our first stop along the Fruit Loop was the Apple Valley Store where we peeled apples, helped make apple butter and climbed on the tractor.

Our next stop was Kiyokawa Farms. They have a large selection of heirloom apples which we tasted along with about seventy five other types of apples. The owner took us on a hay ride through the orchard and showed us the correct way to pick an apple off a tree.

We had a tasty weekend!

where did foster and i hike today?

The Mosier Twin Tunnels.
We wanted to hike the syncline (click to enlarge- you'll see a train) in Washington...
but when we arrived, I saw this sign...
and then this one.
So we left the syncline, drove back over the bridge and went to the Mosier Twin Tunnels.
The tunnels are located along the Historic Columbia River Highway. You can see why the old highway was built at the base of this gorge. The road followed the natural path of land unlike the highways today.
In 2000 they restored the road, tunnels and created a lookout spot.
As you enter the lookout area, you see the following inscription The Columbia Gorge... a work of art to be given the devotion of a lifetime.
Foster enters the tunnel.
Here's the second tunnel. Notice the old and new parts.
Just another beautiful day in the Gorge!

what did breezy and i do after school?

Made pizza!
Breezy loves to cook and bake. I decided to make pizza and peanut butter cookies with her. I prepped the toppings in advance so she could concentrate on making the dough and sauce. After the pizza, she made peanut butter kiss cookies for the guests that will attend her birthday party tonight.

what do i love most about visiting v-town- part two?

Hanging out in the backyard with my niece and nephews.
G-ma's backyard is full of wonderful things to play with, including turtles.
Noah's favorite thing to do in the yard is pick g-ma's flowers- his favorite the Gerbera Daisy (of course).
He's also practicing to become a rock climber...
and an explorer.
Caleb likes to hang out near the turtle pin, play with papa's flashlight...
and sit in g-ma's mini chair.
Here's Breezy enjoying the new deck.

what do i love about visiting v-town?

Picking up Breezy from school.
As most of you know I was a former teacher and vice principal. I love school, especially elementary. So I jumped at the chance to pick up Breezy from school yesterday. She introduced me to her teacher and showed me her classroom.

Here is her self-portrait amongst her classmates...
and another piece of artwork on a hat she made (my guess- a book report).
I will be picking her up from school Thursday as well... we'll be making pizza at Grandma's after school!

what's special about october 8th?

It's our anniversary!
Ben and I were married two years ago today. Thanks to Mandy who did my hair and make up...
and to Sikora for the amazing photos.

I was able to plan the entire wedding choosing to have my seven sisters read the seven blessings.
Each of them also chose fabric for the chuppah my mom made.

Seating in the round was Ben's idea. Everyone had a good seat with this configuration.
Because Ben and I had a long distance relationship, Southwest Airlines became the theme of our wedding. The save the date cards were luggage tags, the invitations were airline tickets, the out of town dinner invitations were drink tickets... naturally the seating arrangements were designated by airport codes.
Our airport code, OGG, Maui- were we would spend our honeymoon at this amazing place (thanks Kristen).

Our cake, made by Sweet Melissa, came from an idea in a British magazine.

Our first dance was to the Magnetic Fields, of course.

Here's the best picture ever taken of Foster, the star of the show.
Love you Doll.
