where did i watch barack obama take the oath of office?

At Wy'East Middle School.

Today I substituted for a teacher attending the Inauguration. Her students and I attempted to watch the Inauguration online. We were able see the image online, but the audio wasn't streaming properly. We solved the problem by using my laptop to stream NPR while watching the CNN feed. During the actual speech and oath we joined the rest of the school in the cafeteria to watch together.

What an amazing piece of history to experience with young adults.

where can we find sunshine in january?

On Mount Hood.

On Saturday Hood River was cold and gray. Ben and I drove to Mount Hood for cross country skiing where it was sunny and warmer. This happens a lot in Hood River during the winter. They call it the inversion. Check out Ben's blog. He tells about his solo experience on Friday.

how was the rest of our weekend?

Great!
Saturday morning started with steel cuts oats, fruit, nuts and juice.

After breakfast, we drove to Portland for the day. We spent the afternoon at the Portland Art Museum.

We saw the exhibit Wild Beauty: Photographs of the Columbia River Gorge 1867-1957. The photos were amazing and we were lucky to catch the show before it closed Sunday.

The curator of the exhibit, Terry Toedtmeier, passed away in December after a presentation about the exhibition at the Hood River Center for the Arts.

One of my favorite photos was this aerial shot of a frozen Columbia River and the Hood River Bridge.

On Sunday we went skiing at Snow King Snow Park in the Mt. Adams Wilderness. On the way home we stopped at the graveyard for antique cars.

Hope you had a great weekend!

how did ben and i start our weekend?

With an evening trip to Mount Hood Meadows.

The conditions were perfect- cool and clear with a full moon.

Having season passes allows us the freedom to use the mountain whenever we like.

Because MHM is located on state land, Foster's allowed to join us for snowball fetching when we finish skiing.

why is ben putting snow into a teapot?

To make hot chocolate.

During our holiday trip to California to visit my family, Ben and I went cross country skiing at Montecito Sequoia Lodge. We skied to a warming hut where we made hot chocolate and threw snowballs for Foster.

Ben used water from the camelback to prevent the snow from burning.

Foster had a great time bounding through the snow.
